Deep in the Garhwal Himalayas near the base of the Chaukhamba massif lies the sacred, triangular Satopanth Lake. Legend says the Hindu Trinity—Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh—meditate at its three corners. This trek is a "mini-expedition" through glacial moraines, offering unmatched views of Mt. Neelkanth, Balakun, and Swargarohini.
Drive from Dehradun/Rishikesh (300 KM). This 10-hour journey takes you through the famous confluences (Prayags) of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers.
Drive: 46 KM. Spend the day acclimatizing at 10,400 ft. Visit the holy Badrinath Temple and the historic Mana village to see Bhim Pul and the Saraswati River.
Trek: 9 KM. Following the Alaknanda river, pass the majestic Vasudhara Falls. Camp at Laxmiban, an area lush with Bhojpatra (Birch) trees.
Trek: 7 KM. A challenging ascent through boulders and moraines. Pass Sahastra Dhara (Thousand Folds Spring) where water drips through limestone monoliths.
Trek: 5 KM. Reach the crystal-clear emerald lake at 14,258 ft. Absorb the divine silence under the shadow of Mt. Chaukhamba before returning to Chakrateerth.
Trek: 8 KM. Retrace your steps down the valley. The descent offers a different perspective of the massive Alkapuri glacier snout.
Trek: 10 KM. Reach Mana village by afternoon and drive back to Joshimath for a well-deserved hot shower and celebration dinner.
Drive back to Dehradun/Rishikesh, concluding your spiritual and adventurous journey to the Path of Truth.
